PTC LIVING WITH GRATITUDE: RELIEF OPERATIONS FOR TYPHOON VICTIMS

Last October 10, 2009, Philippine Transmarine Carriers (PTC), partnered with Hands on Manila, an organization focused on the promotion of volunteerism, to repaint three (3) classrooms in Plainview Elementary School in Mandaluyong. The school was heavily affected by floods and many of the classrooms were damaged by the water.

The week after, on October 16, 2009, through contributions raised from Principals and seafarers, PTC employees visited Barangay Putatan in Muntinlupa to distribute relief goods to 900 families whose houses are still half-immersed in water.

In coordination with the Muntinlupa Chapter of the Red Cross, PTC gave out hygiene packs, as well as food and clothing. Families were identified on the basis of the inspection of the site and subsequent recommendations by the Red Cross.

In response to the havoc caused by Typhoon Pepeng, PTC sent as well, relief goods to the Anakpawis Foundation in Pangasinan for distribution to affected families there.
