IMO Maritime Ambassador Carlos C. Salinas and PTC CEO Gerardo A. Borromeo were among the distinguished business resource persons who conducted one-on-one mentoring sessions to Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) and seafarers at the 13th roll out of Go Negosyo and the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) Mentor Me on Wheels (MMOW) Program last December 3 at the Music Hall of the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City.
Attended by more than 400 mentees, the session was made even more special by the participation of hundreds of OFWs and seafarers who dream of becoming entrepreneurs or wish to develop better business models for their current ventures. Sen. Cynthia Villar and Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez also joined the mentoring session.
Presidential Adviser for Entrepreneurship and Go Negosyo Founder Joey Concepcion emphasized how MMOW can change the life of many by saying, “The fulfillment we are getting by helping our MSME is truly rewarding. This, I think is the best Christmas gift we can give to our OFW and seafarers for the sacrifices that they are doing. Also, many of our entrep-mentors took time despite their busy schedules to impart ideas and knowledge to our mentees.”
Since the 13th roll out is tailored to cater to OFWs and seafarers, Ambassador Salinas made sure to not only encourage and inspire the mentees but more importantly to share valuable knowledge and insights gained from his more than 50 years in the business to the esteemed mentors.
The event completes the list of successful MOMW legs conducted this 2018 over key cities in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
Through MMOW and Mentor MeOnline — the mobile application for mentoring, Go Negosyo and its partner, DTI,introduce mentors to micro and small entrepreneurs, and offer technicalknow-how and practical entrepreneurship strategies. The program has also beenextended to PTC Global Maritime Professionals and their families through apartnership between PTC and Go Negosyo forged earlier this year.
