Crewing Christmas Parties
PTC Group employees embraced the true meaning of the season by participating in the organization’s long-standing Christmas outreach programs this December. On December 8, PTC volunteers spent the morning giving gifts to the children of the Laura Vicuna Foundation in Sta. Mesa Manila. They also conducted storytelling sessions and parlor games for the children who expressed their gratitude through a song number.
Members of the PTC Group gathered to say thanks for a year filled with blessings through a Thanksgiving Mass held last December 18 at the Penthouse of First Maritime Place. The mass was celebrated by Fr. Tito Caluag who, during his homily, encouraged everyone to confidently pursue their dreams and live the life that the Lord has intended for them. After the Eucharistic celebration, Mrs. Isabelita Salinas wished the PTC employees and their families a blessed Christmas while reminding them to look into the Blessed Virgin Mary as a model of consent and obedience. A hearty traditional Filipino snack of bibingka and puto bumbong was then enjoyed by the whole PTC family.
LifeLinks International Resources is offering free Dutch language training for nursing professionals who wish to pursue a career in the Netherlands. The program is open to all registered nurses with at least two years of work experience and willing to undergo language training from A1 to B1 Levels.
PTC Founder and IMO Maritime Ambassador Carlos C. Salinas hosted recognition ceremonies last December 11 to formally thank the Department of Education’s (DepEd) Muntinlupa and Malabon Schools Division Offices for their valuable support and participation in My Ship, My World (MSMW) 2018.
IMO Maritime Ambassador Carlos C. Salinas and PTC CEO Gerardo A. Borromeo were among the distinguished business resource persons who conducted one-on-one mentoring sessions to Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) and seafarers at the 13th roll out of Go Negosyo and the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) Mentor Me on Wheels (MMOW) Program last December 3 at the Music Hall of the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City.
PTC conducted an awarding ceremony to cap the second phase of its “Plastic Free Starts With Me” campaign which promoted the use of the ecobrick as a means to address the problem of plastic pollution, especially in the oceans. At the culmination of the second Bottle It Up Challenge, the PTC Group’s organization-wide ecobrick drive, a total of 859 ecobricks containing 623.51 kilos of plastic waste were collected in just five months. Adding the 713 bottles weighing 457 kilos collected from the San Antonio Village Elementary School (SAVES), PTC’s partner school, and the 267 kilos from the first phase of the initiative, the campaign ends the year with a total of 2,013 ecobricks, equivalent to 1,347.65 kilos of plastic.
PTC Inc. Executive Director of Business Development for Shipping Karen Avelino was elected as the new president of the Philippine Association of Maritime Training Centers, Inc., (PAMTCI) during the association’s Board of Trustees (BOT) Meeting held last December 17. The Philippine Center for Advanced Maritime Simulation and Training was also elected as a member of PAMTCI’s BOT. Ms. Avelino is slated to commence her two-year tenure on January 1, 2019, leading the association in its mission to help elevate the quality of Philippine maritime education and training and ensure the industry’s compliance with local and international standards.

ACM Landholdings has successfully transitioned to the 2015 version of the ISO 9001 standards following an audit on the company’s Quality Management System conducted by Certification International Philippines, Inc. (CIP). This confirmation was based on the results of the first and second surveillance reviews and a transition audit conducted last August 16, 2018. The certification is a testament to ACM’s commitment to the continuous improvement of its quality management system which serves as the company’s guide for meeting organizational performance objectives. Subsequent audits will be conducted to track progress and improvement.
First time nominee Northern Star Energy Corporation attended the 20th annual S&P Global Platts Global Energy Awards, held last December 6 at Cipriani Wall Street, New York, where they were named as a Finalist in the Rising Star Company Category. The Awards highlights corporate and individual innovation, leadership and superior performance in 18 categories spanning the entire energy complex.
The PTC Group ended another milestone year by celebrating the importance of our oceans at the annual PTC Christmas Party entitled, Treasure the Sea, held last December 13 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City.
