PTC and Mapúa Malayan Colleges Laguna renew industry-academe linkage with MOA signing

In a significant step toward strengthening their long-standing collaboration, Philippine Transmarine Carriers, Inc., and Mapúa Malayan Colleges Laguna formally held a ceremonial signing of their Memorandum of Agreement on August 15, 2025, at the Legaspi Room, First Maritime Place Building in Makati City.

This unique industry-academe linkage, established in 2008, has yielded positive outcomes over the past 17 years, fostering mutual growth and development in maritime education and training. The event opened with a warm welcome from PTC’s Chief Operating Officer, Ms. Beng Cristobal, who emphasized the company’s commitment to nurturing future Global Maritime Professionals.
This was followed by a heartfelt message from PTC CEO, Mr. Gerardo Borromeo, who underscored the importance of sustained cooperation between the private sector and educational institutions in building a competitive and globally competent workforce. Executives from both PTC and Jebsen-PTC Crewing were also in attendance, reaffirming their support for this enduring partnership.
Representatives from Mapúa Malayan Colleges Laguna expressed their enthusiasm about the renewed collaboration, stressing how the MOA will further enhance curriculum development, scholarship programs, and research projects tailored to the evolving needs of the maritime sector.
The signing ceremony marks the continuation of a strategic alliance dedicated to advancing shared goals and enhancing the capabilities of both institutions. It reaffirms their joint commitment to providing quality education, fostering innovation, and preparing students to meet the challenges and opportunities of the maritime industry in the years ahead.
