PTC at BEACON 2025: Convening voices for Sustainable Maritime Pathways

OCTOBER 3, 2025

As part of the BEACON Expo 2025, PTC facilitated the September 30 afternoon session on Maritime Pathways to the Philippine Blue Economy. The forum, attended by both international and domestic shipping players, featured partners from the diplomatic community, industry, and the maritime workforce.

Organized by the Maritime League in collaboration with the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), BEACON 2025 took place from September 29 to October 1 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City under the theme “Charting a Safer Course: Philippine Maritime Safety in the Era of Shared Ocean Responsibility.”

With Mr. Leslie Suntay, Head of Shipping Strategy at PTC, serving as session host, the program opened with H.E. Marielle Geraedts, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, who emphasized the enduring Dutch–Philippine partnership in maritime cooperation and innovation. This was followed by a keynote from Arch. Felino “Jun” Palafox Jr., who highlighted how geography, infrastructure, and visionary planning can help position the Philippines as a global maritime hub.

Two thematic discussions then explored pathways toward a safer and greener maritime future:

• Green Ports and Energy Pathways – featuring Ms. Viktoria Locson (Blue Water Shipping) and Mr. Maxime Droit (REurasia Energy Solutions), who shared insights on renewable integration, resilient port systems, and policy enablers for accelerating green logistics.

• Future-Ready Ships and Seafarers – with Mr. Srinath Medepalli (Ocean Pathways), Mr. Andrei Korsström (Kongsberg Maritime), and Capt. Pol Winston Haboc (Vice President, PHILCAMSAT), who emphasized the convergence of fuel reform, propulsion innovation, and green skills training for Filipino seafarers.

By convening these voices, PTC underscored its commitment to cross-sector collaboration, advancing sustainable shipping solutions, and preparing the Filipino maritime workforce for the transitions of decarbonization and digitalization.
