The PTC Group proudly celebrates the selection of three outstanding finalists at the 2025 Crew Connect Global Awards, a prestigious event that honors excellence, innovation, and leadership in the maritime industry.

These recognitions reflect The PTC Group’s unwavering commitment to advancing maritime education, promoting safety and innovation at sea, and nurturing the next generation of Global Maritime Professionals.

Leading the list is PHILCAMSAT, recognized for its Competence Badging System (CBS)—a groundbreaking approach that uses digital badging to track seafarer competencies, inspire continuous learning, and better prepare maritime professionals for the evolving demands of global shipping. This innovative system positions PHILCAMSAT as a finalist for the Innovation and Adoption of Technology Award.

Also among the finalists is Capt. Steve Hansen, Master of MV Iris Paoay under Jebsen PTC Maritime, Inc., who was nominated for the Seafarer of the Year Award. Capt. Hansen and his crew were commended for their heroism in rescuing a stranded fisherman off Pucio Point on March 21, 2025. Despite rough seas and strong winds, Capt. Hansen led the successful recovery of Mr. Jun R. Dabban, ensuring his safety and safe transfer to the Philippine Coast Guard in Manila.

Joining them is C/E Gaudioso A. Peteza II of PTC–Komaya, whose story of perseverance, mentorship, and service stands as a powerful example of leadership and integrity at sea. His nomination for the Seafarer of the Year Award recognizes not only his professional excellence but also his dedication to uplifting fellow seafarers.

The winners will be announced during the Crew Connect Global Awards Ceremony on November 12, 2025, as part of the Seatrade Maritime Crew Connect Global event in Manila. Bringing together industry leaders and professionals from around the world, the awards shine a spotlight on those who exemplify the spirit of progress and purpose in the maritime profession.
